Food Protection

The objective of the Food Protection program is to provide the public with a safe food supply by reducing the risk of foodborne illness due to chemical, microbiological, or other forms of contamination.

Program goals are achieved through research, education, monitoring investigation, and regulation. Food Protection staff are also responsible for coordinating provincial food handler training programs, in partnership with Assiniboine and Keewatin Community Colleges, and the public health inspectors who work in the Health Protection Unit.
