Cancer Surgery

What is Cancer Surgery?

Cancer surgery is an operation to repair or remove part of the body in the treatment of cancer. Cancer surgery can also be combined with other cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

How long you will wait for cancer surgery depends on your treatment plan, where your cancer is located, and how far advanced it has become. Different cancers advance at different rates, some slowly and others more quickly. Your wait time will begin once your health care provider determines you are fit enough and ready to have cancer surgery. For a description of the cancer care path, click here.
